New Zealand 2015 Bird Gallery

Here are some bird species spotted during my visit to New Zealand in 2015. The New Zealand bird population is dominated by introduced species and I have concentrated mostly on native species. Highlight of the trip was a day on the bird sanctuary of Ulva Island, where there were delightful close-up views of robin, fantail, weka and saddleback.

I had loads of fun "phishing" the birds wherever I went and found the bellbirds, fantails and warblers to be very curious about the unusual sounds. Often they flew directly to me, landing on a branch only a few metres away to investigate.

My scenery photos are here.
