Running Chicken Nebula, featuring l Centauri, IC 2944 and IC 2948 A Milky Way star field located around l Centauri and the young cluster IC 2948. It has the appearance of a "Running Chicken" with l Centauri forming the eye and nebulosity making the beak, mouth and comb. Of special interest to cosmologists are the dark dust globules which superimpose onto the emission nebula, IC 2944 (distance ~6000ly).
