The Eta Carina Nebula, NGC 3372 - a gem of the southern skies. A huge cloud of gas and dust illuminated by the blue supergiant h Carinae (middle of field), one of the most massive stars known in our galaxy. An area rich in young star clusters and dark, dusty nebulae. Just above h Carinae is the Keyhole Nebula. Distance is 7,500 ly. Here's an image taken in Ha.
