Botswana

A country of just over 2 million people and one of the most sparsely populated on the planet. The country is predominently flat tending towards gently rolling tableland and contains a range of habitats, from grassland and savannah to delta wetland to arid desert, as roughly 70% is covered by the Kalahari Desert. Climate is hot and wet in the summer months (Dec - March), whilst winter (June-Aug) is dry and mild in the daytime, but temperatures may fall below freezing at night. I also saw lots of Botswanan birds.
