COMET HALE-BOPP

Here you will find a small collection of images of Comet Hale-Bopp that I captured during its spectacular appearance in 1997. Hale-Bopp was my first great comet (Comet Halley was such a disappointment!) and photographed superbly.

	A view of Hale-Bopp amongst the stars of Perseus. Algol and rho Persei are to the left. Taken through a 50mm f/1.9 lens at f/2.8. 4 min exposure.
	My best shot of Comet Hale-Bopp, viewed against the stars of Perseus. Five minute exposure through 200mm lens at f/3.5. Note the detail in the (blue) gas tails. Open cluster M34 is lower right.
